For an international market leader in chemical distribution and storage, we are looking for an experienced and driven HSE Specialist for the sites in Deerlijk and Mouscron. In this senior role you share responsibility for further developing, implementing and embedding the health, safety and environmental policy. You are a strategic partner for management and a key driving force behind a strong safety culture.
About the role
As HSE Specialist you take a leading role within Health, Safety & Environment and report to the HSE Manager. You combine operational involvement with a strategic vision and work closely with local management and employees on the shop floor. You are visibly present at both sites, support line managers in their safety responsibilities and initiate improvement projects that contribute to a safe, compliant and sustainable working environment.
What will you do?
- Support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the HSE policy for the Deerlijk and Mouscron sites.
- Contribute to incident and accident investigations, perform root cause analyses and follow up corrective and preventive measures.
- Identify risks and contribute to the implementation and follow-up of the annual action plan and the global prevention plan.
- Perform and supervise legal and operational risk analyses.
- Draw up commissioning reports and advise on changes to installations, processes and work equipment.
- Manage, update and test the internal emergency plan and coordinate emergency drills.
- Support and coach line managers in applying safety procedures and the work permit system.
- Organise training sessions, toolbox meetings and awareness campaigns on safety, health and the environment.
- Help follow up HSE improvement projects.
- Manage prevention files and monitor compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Actively contribute to a strong safety culture through coaching, presence on the shop floor and leading by example.
What do you bring?
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably in a technical field, or equivalent through experience.
- Experience as an HSE professional in an industrial, production or logistics environment.
- Prevention Advisor Level 2 diploma.
- Strong knowledge of safety legislation and risk management, with a clear affinity for process safety and ATEX environments.
- Experience with incident investigation and safety management systems.
- Excellent communication and coaching skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- A hands-on mentality combined with an analytical and project-based approach.
- Fluent Dutch, French and English.
- Good knowledge of MS Office.
- Independent, proactive and well organised.
